Thailand, once known as ‘Siam,’ holds a deep historical connection to gold and jewelry-making. The name ‘Siam’ is derived from the Sanskrit word for gold, while the ancient Indians referred to the region as ‘Suvannabhumi’ or the ‘Land of Gold.’ This rich legacy of gold trading not only shaped the country’s identity but also served as its first connection to the wider world.
